a) Use Case: We are currently implementing a strategy to improve Core Web Vitals and site speed. Our tests confirm that increasing the Akamai Cache TTL drastically reduces average response time (dropping from ~800ms to ~600ms). To extend this improvement to the entire site (including Breaking News and Homepages) responsibly, we require an operational "Safety Valve" for production incident remediation. If we increase cache times, we must be able to instantly purge specific groups of content in the event of human error or critical layout bugs.
b) Current Problem: Currently, ARC only allows purging URL by URL. This is operationally inviable during a massive incident or when using high TTLs. We cannot risk errors remaining "stuck" and visible to users for hours until the cache expires. The previous response we received (Ticket ACS-37242) suggesting we "test in Sandbox" does not address the need for a real-time remediation tool for Production environments. We are technically blocked from improving site speed because we lack this basic safety mechanism standard in most CDNs.
c) Specific Request: We need ARC to allow the injection of the Edge-Cache-Tag HTTP header in page responses. Akamai will handle the rest of the purging logic based on these tags.
