Currently you must select the tiny checkbox on each image to do a multi-select - to make the same change to all of them or delete a group of image. This is tedious and also prone to getting an image preview if you don't click precisely on that tiny checkbox. There must be a better select a group of images you've filtered on a page - adding a "Select all" checkbox similar to the way gmail does it - or even clicking the first image and shift-clicking the last the last one would be an improvement.
See attached image and imagine having to click on 131 images....
Hallelujah! I love it!
Hi Lynda!
We recently added the ability to "Select all" in the Photo Center 1.73 release.
Please let us know if you have any additional feedback! I will now mark this as Shipped.
Thanks,
Larry
I do appreciate any attempt to make things better for the users. And I also understand that my case is an edge case but it's the second time in a year that I have to delete thousands of images that the purge scripts can't find and are increasing our storage costs.
Clicking anywhere on the image tile is an improvement but a real improvement would be the ability to click on the first image on the page and then shift-click the last image to have all images in between selected. Shift-click and control-click are common ways to select items in other applications so users should be familiar with the concept.
Hi Lynda,
Completely understand where you are coming from. I just wanted to make you aware that selecting an image(s) via the Image Selector V2 experience is coming to Composer and does not have the same tediousness as the UI in Photo Center.
We are already looking into improving the multi-select experience in Photo Center, stemming from this new gallery edit release. If selecting multiple images first requires you to select the tiny checkbox icon pop-up for the image (thus entering in "select-mode"), and then all additional image selections can be selected by clicking anywhere on the image tile, does that address the issue?
Thanks,
Larry
You are missing the point. Its not composer or galleries. It is selecting
multiple images in photo center (in this case to delete them). You have to
wait for the icon pop-up to click on the tiny checkbox for each image.
There should be a way to shift-click or control-click to select multiple
images.
Hi Lynda! Composer 1.56 should be deploying Image Selector V2 experience (in Sandbox this Wednesday), which has the improved image selector experience (selecting images to either add to a gallery, story, etc.). That experience does not require clicking on a specific select box to select an image.
However, I believe you are referring to the new gallery edit experience, where selecting an image(s) already in a gallery to take certain actions (remove the image, move the image to top or bottom of gallery, etc), is a bit more tedious. That is by design. We needed to separate the actions of selecting an image from drag-and-drop, thus the purposeful select icon in the blue hover menu (in the tile-view). It is noted that after you've engaged "selection mode" in the tile-view (and list-view), having to click a tiny checkbox is not ideal. We've already noted that as a future improvement.
To summarize, the image selection experience to add an image to other content (story, gallery, etc.) should be a very efficient select experience. Please let me know if you are still finding it otherwise. The image select experience in the new edit gallery experience, is purposefully more cumbersome, but we do acknowledge that after being in "selection mode" the target to select an image should be larger than a small checkbox. Hope that helps!
Note: the image landing page also follows the same selection process as the new edit gallery experience that we will be looking into. We should be able to make that a more efficient experience.

Is there any update to this?
The new design of photo center has made this even harder to do - now you have to wait for the blue line of icons to pop up before you can click on the tiny little checkbox. It has made a tedious and time-consuming task even more tedious and time-consuming.
Hi Lynda. Thank you for your question and apologies for the delay in response. You will be seeing the image selector v2 experience by the end of Q1 this year.
Any update on when this will be implemented?
This is categorized as "Planned". Is there any idea of when we will see it?
