Oftentimes, photos are uploaded into Anglerfish with little or no IPTC information on them. For example, photos taken on iphones will likely not include capton, photographer credit and bycredit, a story slug, copyright info, etc. The same goes for screengrabs and many photos not going the tool like Photo Mechanic before upload to Anglerfish.
When that information is added to a photo item in Anglerfish, it is (in our workflow) intended that the info follow the photo from that point on -- whether the photo is downloaded and toned for print, syndicated to licensed vendors, etc.
Whether it's an option allowing publishers to select to always write back to IPTC when info is edited in Anglerfish, or an option to include Anglerfish-specific info on individual photos when downloaded from the platform, please implement stronger ties between the Anglerfish UI and a photo's IPTC.
The Arc team is committed to tackling this feature request early next year.
The Boston Globe newsroom would love to see this functionality as well -- our photo staff will regularly be updating caption information and other metadata via Photo Center. Any update on when it will be rolled out?
Hi Angela and company. This is becoming a HUGE workflow issue for us as caption and other metadata added in Arc Photo (Anglerfish) is fregquently missing when it is added in Anglerfish or specified on upload to Anglerfish. We need this info to carry with the photos in the IPTC Heeader/XMP data when it is downloaded to be pushed to our Print Editorial System (Hermes).
In conversation with other Arc Customers, we have learned that we are not the only ones upset that Arc Photo does not update the metadata on the photo file itself.
Has there been any movement on this since ti was pushed to backlog as planned in January?
Please let us know anything we can do to get this request escalated, This seems like a very basic function that should be part of any photo management platform.
Thanks,
Ian
Yup, this is in in the backlog for us to work on at some point.
