We have discovered, and it has been verified by Angela Wong, that you cannot resequence photos and make updates to any captions on photos on an existing gallery and do a single save of your changes. The caption updates will take place, but the resequencing is lost. We have determined that it is necessary to do a save after resequencing the photos, and then ddo a second save after making any updates on captions, and other local photo metadata.
We are also currently investigating an issue in which all changes made are lost when updating an existing unpublished gallery, then doing a SAVE and Publish operation. We are recommening to our photo team that if they create and save a gallery without publishing it, that when updating and publishing it that they do it in 3 steps.
1. Resequence photos in gallery as needed, then SAVE
2.a Make edits on local metadata (caption, etc.) on individual photos (saving each update on each photo within it's metadata edit box. - this isn't obvious, as you generally need to scroll the box to see the save button).
2.b . When edits are complete, click SAVE button, not SAVE and Publish
3. When you finally want gallery to be published, add section(s) and click Save and Publish button. Do not make any other change in this operation. If you find you need to reorder photos or make local metadata edits, return to steps 1 or 2 as appropriate.
I will update this idea when I have confirmed that the above process is necessary, and there is a bug related to SAVE and Publish
Until the "bugs" in workflow for creating and updating galleries are corrected in a future release - which i understand might not ber until 4Q2019, Arc should update the documentation for Anglerfish Galleries to provide explicit instructions on the proper sequence of updating ,saving and Save and Publishi in the gallery workflow, to provide a clear workaround to circumvent current issues.
This should also provide advice on how best to update a published gallery so that all changes will be reflected in site at once, as it appears changes to published galleries are pushed incrementally, as SAVEs are done, as there is now explicit UPDATE function as there is in Ellipsis, which purges the existing version o f the object in cache when it is updated.
Let me know if you have any questions on this.

Hello all,
We've released a new gallery edit experience that is more stable that addresses most of the concerns stated above. If you are still experiencing any of the issues above, please submit bug tickets through ACS, so that we can address the issues. I will close this idea for now. Please reach out if further discussions are needed. Thanks!
Thanks,
Larry
