Ideas for Arc XP

VOD ingest into Arc Video Center via MRSS feed

As a Video Solutions Architect it is necessary to be able to ingest VoD content via MRSS feed into Arc Video. MRSS feeds are the means by which most 3rd party content providers distribute their content for CMG’s publishing use. Without an MRSS feed ingest process, CMG will not have a method of ingesting VoD content from 3rd party publishers.

MRSS feeds may differ from provider to provider so the ingest tool needs to be able to allow users to customize the metadata mapping for each feed configured to be ingested.

Feed Ingest Settings

  • Feed Ingest Title

  • Feed Ingest Description

  • Feed Host URL field

  • Feed Username (may be left blank)

  • Feed Password (may be left blank)

  • Ingest Start Date and Time (define a publish date you want to start ingest from within the feed)

  • Run Ingest Frequency (i.e.options for every 1, 3, 5, 10 minutes)

Content Settings

  • Auto Assign a Type to Ingested Videos (optional)

  • Add Section to Ingested Videos (alone or in addition to those assigned by Type)

  • Add Tags/Keywords (alone or in addition to those assigned by Type)

  • Toggle Auto Publish of ingested videos On/Off

    • Should be able to ingest in Draft state, or Published State

    • Should be able to configure to ingest Master video only, and not automatically run Transcode processes (cost control measure as for some feeds producers will be selective on which videos from a feed get published)

Custom Metadata Mapping for each Ingest Feed

  • Title

  • Description

  • Tags

  • Keywords

  • Section

  • Publish Date

  • Duration

  • Snapshot/Poster/Thumbnail URL

  • Master Video URL

  • Closed Caption URL

  • External GUID

  • External Site Link

We have a current use case for this again, so we wanted to ping this idea to bump it back into view.
