When adding a feature we rarely want to use that feature as a linked feature - this box should be OFF by default and the user can click it on when they want to use it.
What happens if this is on by default is that you make the user click it of every time resulting in extra unnecessary clicks - OR - they don't do this and when they actually do want to link something they have to 1-click a button to enable the link, 2-turn the link (to itself) off and 3-then search in a very long list of all the other features and pages in the system (not displayed in any usable way and many of which do not apply) to find the one they want to use. Slows down the process and makes it very inefficient.
