Currently, the number of stories allowed into our sitemaps is capped at 4 years. As a publisher running magazines, many of our years old stories are still relevant, or "evergreen", but are unable to be filtered in to the sitemaps due to the restrictions.
Currently, our site search is being run by a 3rd party vendor, but they must be able to crawl the sitemaps in order to render the content.
Overall, it is important to us to have more, if not all, content available in our sitemaps.
