When an editor clicks "send to print," it can sometimes take several seconds for the "Story sent to print" message to pop up on the screen. I find that some editors can get impatient, especially if the process is taking longer than usual, and start to believe the process didn't really begin. So, they click the "send to print" button again, and again, and again, like someone waiting for an elevator.
This results in the same story being sent multiple times for no reason, and a repeated effort which wastes resources, bandwidth, etc. As well, sometimes the print CMS is busy ingesting the first send when the second arrives, and results in an error.
So, if a message like "Sending story to print..." were to appear when the button is first pressed, to be replaced by the usual "Story sent to print" message upon completion, it would reassure the editor that their first attempt is actually in progress.
