In large, multisite publications there could be more than several dozen people who need to be able to edit and create templates. These people can have roles that vary from content producer to digital lead or editor. However, becuase templates are controlled in the settings panel, we have to give a lot of people very high access so they can work with their newsroom's templates.
Furthermore, depending on how many newsrooms a company has running out of Arc, the number of templates created can get very high. For our organization, we expect to have hundreds nearly 1,000 templates once all newsrooms are on Arc. This is creating a mess in the settings panel and makes a huge block of content we need to scroll through to get down to items below templates.
Soon, Ellipsis will move the management of templates to be its own page with separate permissions from Ellipsis settings, so that some users can have access to manage templates but not settings.
