I have noticed that when I type my name into the Ellipsis byline search field, if I type only "Danielle" and then pick "Danielle Newman" off the list of options, stories by anyone with the name "Danielle" display in the search results listing.
I have noticed this happens with some frequency (thought not 100% of the time) in both the WaPo Sandbox and Prod environments.
The attached screen grab below demonstrates what I see in the WaPo Sandbox (note the byline in the highlighted section on the left and the highlighted byline results on the right).
This is the search in the URL:

(You can see that even though I selected "Danielle Newman" from the choice list in the byline field only "Danielle" was included in the search string.)
Choosing "Danielle Newman" off the list sometimes properly searches for the full byline, but more often than not the only thing that is searches is what I typed into the byline field before I selected the name off the list. So, for example, if I type in Danielle N, then select Danielle Newman from the choice list, I get zero results on this search string:

Bottom line, I think that the expected behavior should be that if users choose a name from the byline field choice list that the system should reliably search on that name.
This issue has occurred through the last several upgrades. I originally reported this issue on Dec. 3 as ACS-3485 but was told on Dec. 31 that it should be an "Ideas" ticket so I am filing it here.
