It would be helpful to have a character counter in the "Working Headline" box. Our station has a policy to try to stay under 100 characters in a headline, so it would be nice to easily be able to see how many characters you have to work with or if you need to rework a headline to get below 100 characters, how much you need to change. Thank you!!

As far as my organisation is concerned, we are interested in the feature as well.
It would be great to have this length configurable in Composer settings as each organization may have its own policy with regards to headline length. Besides, there could be a different policy for web and print headlines : the Settings should allow to configure & different length for all headlines (basic, print, mobile, etc.).
What happens if length is not respected ? I think that a simple indication of respect to length is enough (like a figure showing actual length in character vs configured length : 85 / 100 (-15) or 120 /100 (+20))
1. I would not implement a hard stop. User should be able to keep typing. There would be some visual indication that you have exceeded the limit, like negative numbers if there's a visual countdown.
2. I would implement this as global settings that could be change as guidance/specs change.
Hi - thank you for the idea! I'd like to understand the problem statement a little more, as well as the requirements here. A couple of questions:
What happens when you go over the headline character count? What are the downstream implications?
Do you need the ability to set and/or change the character count limit as an admin so it is global? If so, why is that important?
Thanks!
