Ideas for Arc XP

Composer should display the focal point of an image in the Featured Media tab if it was set in Photo Center

Currently, when a focal point is set on an image in Photo Center you have no idea that is the case in Composer - the X-Y coordinate fields are blank. Just as the caption is copied in from the image, the focal point coordinates should be copied in - and the user can then override them in the story just as they can override the caption in the story.

Hey Alasdair, we haven't enabled focal points in Photo Center yet (the button is there in the tool, it just doesn't have any functionality on our front end).  So before we start working on that, is there any advice you would provide to our engineers?  How is the metadata different than what we're used to in Composer?

My guess is that it would do this automatically if the implementation of focal point metadata applied in Photo Center wasn't mysteriously/bafflingly different than with a focal point applied in Composer.
