Ideas for Arc XP

URL dates should always be on the date it's first published, especially if backed out of being scheduled

A complaint from a Wapo SEO expert...
If a post is scheduled for tomorrow, the 15th, then the editor changes course and publishes right away, the 15th remains in the url.
Google may see this as 'cheating' because we're putting in a future date for something published sooner. Worth exploring if there's any way around this.

Regenerating the URL may be a short-term solution but users will not remember to do that.

It's using the date that it's originally scheduled for, though it gets unscheduled.

What date is the canonical URL format using in this instance?
