Enable standardized AI-generated content labeling for articles, videos, and images across Arc editorial platforms (Composer, Photo Center, and Video Center) with internal tracking and frontend disclosure capabilities.
As editorial staff, it is critical to identify whether artificial intelligence has been used in the creation or processing of text, images, or videos. Currently, there is no standardized mechanism to track and label AI-generated content across our editorial workflow.
What we need:
A standard metadata field in Arc Composer for text content
A standard metadata field in Photo Center for images
A standard metadata field in Video Center for video content
Internal tracking capability for editorial oversight
Frontend display/labeling of AI-generated content for readers
Use Cases:
Editors need to track which content has been AI-assisted or AI-generated
Readers need transparent disclosure about AI involvement in published content
Compliance with emerging regulatory requirements
This feature aligns with Article 50 of the EU AI Act (effective August 2, 2026), which mandates transparency obligations for AI-generated content. Specifically:
Article 50(2) AI Act: "Providers of AI systems generating synthetic audio, image, video or text content shall ensure that AI-generated or manipulated content are marked in a machine-readable format and detectable as artificially generated or manipulated."
Article 50(4) AI Act: "Deployers of generative AI systems shall clearly label deepfakes and AI-generated or manipulated text published with the purpose of informing the public on matters of public interest, unless the publication has undergone a process of human review and is subject to editorial responsibility."
The EU has established a Code of Practice on Transparency of AI-Generated Content (effective August 2, 2026) to help organizations comply with these requirements through standardized marking and labeling practices.
"This obligation shall not apply where the use is authorised by law to detect, prevent, investigate or prosecute criminal offences or where the AI-generated content has undergone a process of human review or editorial control and where a natural or legal person holds editorial responsibility for the publication of the content."
