Hello. Is there any update on this functionality? With the volume of articles coming in these days on coronavirus, it would be a great time saver to be able to move related items around without having to erase them all and reattach.
I just discovered something else in creating a test case for some template updates we are making. I wanted a test case with related content items in this order: story, video, story. I found that when i went to add the second story for the third position, it ended up being in the second position, so the order was story, story, video.
I think that once the story related content block is populated, all additional stories get added to that same block, regardless of order of entry of items..
In order to get the gallery into the second position, i had to enter them in this order: story, gallery, video. Since Video was a different content type, it added a new block to the related content "array", leaving Gallery in the desired second position.
I think this is the case as the interface has separate blocks for each TYPE of related content rather than a separate block for each related item (which is something you'd also need to be able to rearrange them, regardless of content type.)
Please consider this in implementation of the reorderingof related content.
I see this is planned,a but is there a projected date that this will be available?
The following is an an example of what one needs to do as a workaround for this. I needed to do this for UAT of some of our own template updates regarding display of realted links on articles and PB features, and wanted to make sure that a related gallery was in the top position in my test case Articles.
I found that if stories had already been added to the related content tab, the only way i could add a related gallery and have it be the first related item was to delete all of the related items, save the article, then add the gallery first, then the articles.
When i had 2 articles followed by a gallery, and wanted to move the gallery to the top, i thought i could just remove the two articles so the Gallery would be first, and then add the articles back, but the articles continued to appear above the gallery in the tab.
That's why it's so critical to be able to reorder related items on the related item tab, and allow them to placed in any desired order, regardless of content type.
We shipped the ability to reorder related stories in our Composer 2.2 release that went to Sandbox on August 29th and Production on September 3rd.
