After seeing the current implementation coming for the video/gallery icons our UX team is requesting an update that would work better for our websites and we believe for all of your clients.
Currently the icon impedes upon thumbnail context by covering up too much of the image, the transparency solves for that as does sizing it down a little bit too. It would be nice to have consistency as well in the location that the user will see these icons. When they are in the bottom left they can cover up our lower third on a video which isn't always ideal. The site primary color doesn't work well on these icons so a more generic background color is desired.
Here are the specs we're requesting for review:
Size: 30x30px
Background color: #00000 @ 50% opacity/transparency
Play/Gallery icon: #FFFFFF and slightly off-center to look balanced visually
Distance from top corner: 8px (from top and right side) on large, medium; 4px (from top and right side) on small thumbnails
Attached is an example. We will be happy to provide a Figma design as well for review.
Thanks for this feedback – we'll consider this as we research capabilities to offer as part of enhanced styling configurations in 2021.
