When a new Anglerfish release is launched, always showing a simple one-time announcement could be a useful feature:
1) It could give all content authors and support teams a confirmation that a new release is live. The current information resources aren't visible to everyone:
2) An modal announcement is a premium opportunity to advertise Arc Support's recommendation to apply a hard refresh. Staff members unaware of this workaround, sporadically generate support requests experiencing blank pages and unexpected behavior immediately following a release. Arc staff have said it's related to newly-deployed files conflicting with old version in the local browser environment.
A notification from inside the application would be a powerfully effective way to reach new and old, internal and external (freelance) staff in a timely manner. This reduces disruption to their workflows and support costs (When a release goes live in the evening as Anglerfish 1.28 did, support can be challenging for our after-hour newsrooms). Everyone is made aware of simple steps to treat a known issue. And even if a release date is expedited (as was done for Anglerfish 1.29 launching a day in advance of the date officially in the release calendar mentioned in #1), every user is empowered to react until Arc no longer requires applying CTRL-F5 or CMD-Shift-R on each release date.
