Ideas for Arc XP

Option to Not Upload Existing Image Meta Data

We are often sent images from third parties that already have meta data applied in the files.

When the images are uploaded to galleries (via UI, not API), the meta data pulls through into the image fields and even we try to remove it at point of upload, the auto-populated meta data still displays beneath the image in the gallery, which is not desired because the auto-populated meta data clashes with the meta data we add on our side.

We'd like an option to "turn off" the automatic upload of existing image meta data.

Hi - just following up on this as it's still marked as needs more information. Wondering if you need any further information past what was provided 23 March?

    Hi Larry,

    Thanks for your response.

    Workflow is:
    - Receive group of images from a 3rd party - these images already have meta data applied.
    - Upload images via the gallery upload UI
    - Try to delete the automated meta data at the gallery UI point & add your own meta data to the images

    - When you publish the gallery, both the automated meta data and the meta data you added are present on the front end

    Thanks,

    Natalie

    Hi Natalie,

Thank you for your idea submission! Would you be able to provide a bit more detail on your exact workflow and problem you are looking to solve?

As you are uploading an image in the edit gallery experience, you should be able to edit the image metadata in that workflow, which includes removing the auto-populated metadata.

    Thanks,

    Larry
