Ideas for Arc XP

Provide an indicator of how many times a photo has been used, right from the search result.

When searching for photos within photo center or from Composer, we'd like to have some indicator of how many times the photo have been assigned to a story so the newsroom could avoid repeating or over using photos.

The current way of checking this data has too many steps.

    answers:

1 - part of the reason is that if the same photo appears many times in different stories, aside from looking bad on a sectionfront, it leads to users thinking it's the same story over and over and not reading other stories because they think they've already read it.

2 - we don't assign images in websked so for us it would be published images placed in a story both in-line and as featured media (unpublished could be added if it makes it easier)

3 - the only way to see if an image has been used in a story is to edit the image in photo center, scroll to the bottom and click the Show Photo Activity button. Showing the data near the top of the form would be ideal - also being able to report on this data would be good - photos used, photos not used, etc.

    Hi all,

Thank you for the idea submission and all of the votes. I'd like to follow up with a few questions to better understand the problem statement and why it's important to solve:

    1. The problem to solve is "we want newsroom to avoid using the same image in multiple stories so that images aren't over-used". Why is this important?

    2. "Assigned to a story" - does this mean that any image(s) placed in a story (in-line or featured media) for both published and unpublished? Or the actual assignment of an image in the WebSked workflow?

    3. "The current way of checking this data has too many steps." - can you share exactly what part of your workflow are your users checking this data? If you can outline the steps and point out exactly where a user expects to check this data that will be ideal.

Thanks again for the feedback! This will help us ensure we solve the right problem for you.
