Clipping tool featuring timeline containing thumbnails and sidebar captions Merged

The timeline featuring thumbnails would enhance workflow by quickly visually being able to identify where scenes start and stop. Adding a zoom in/out time ability in the timeline would further enhance that workflow. This would be akin to the timeline in iMovie or Final Cut Pro.

The sidebar caption data would be clickable so that quickly scanning the caption text, a publisher could find the approximate beginning of a segment within a longer clip.

Thumbnails represented in the timeline should be captured @ approx 20 to 30 second intervals to provide the best coverage of scene changes. Presentation of the thumbnails needs to provide the user with some visual feedback on the content at that point in the timeline.

    Possible display option:

If the timeline were for a 30 minute program, 10 static thumbnail positions in the timeline would represent 3 minutes of time. As the user scrubs along the timeline, that static thumbnail position would update with a thumbnail representative of that 20 to 30 second section. The second thumbnail in the timeline could represent the minutes 3 to 6 of the timeline. This simply keeps the thumbnail static position in the timeline in close to proximity to the scrub point in the timeline.
