Our copy desk primarily uses Websked to search for and open stories that are ready for them to edit, but they've been complaining that there is no way to see, at a glance, that someone else has a story locked. There are clearly visible lock icons on the Composer story list, but nothing similar for Websked.
Thank you both for your feedback. That's very helpful!
We'll keep plugging away at this...
Best,
Stuart
HEllo stuart, one of the main painpoint relies on the fact that our front page editors can change planned published time directly from Websked only if the article is unlocked. When the article is locked, it is the edited planned publish date from composer that output in priority.
We're working in a similar way that Britton is explaining above. While not a huge problem for us, it is irritating to open a story as a digital editor only to find out that the reporter or photo editor have it open already. For us the most important place in Websked to show this would be in the tasks list.
Hi all,
We continue to make progress to enabling the locked status of a story available in WebSked. As I said earlier, there's quite a technical hurdle to make this happen but we're getting there.
In the meantime, I'm curious to learn: why do WebSked users need to know if a story is locked? Are they looking to make changes to the story from WebSked? Do they just want to see that someone is working on the story?
Please share with me your use cases. This will help guide some future improvements we'd like to make.
Thanks in advance!

I don't believe this is the same as https://ideas.arcxp.com/ideas/WS-I-216. This one is about displaying the lock status of a story in the collection. WS-I-216 is about displaying the "lock status" of the entire collection.
Per https://ideas.arcxp.com/ideas/WS-I-216 which I've merged with this ticket:
Instead of receiving a weird and ugly red error whenever another user is touching the same Collection you are editing, as an editor it is essential to get visibility if another user is editing a list and take control of it on an organized way. Given that Collections can be used as content source for sensitive areas in your page this becomes even more relevant.
Quick update: we are moving forward with our development of a Calendar view, but at this time we will not be able to include the
lock status
I'm sorry to say. It's a bit more complicated than I'd hoped and we need support from the Composer team on this. However, they are very aware of this request so know that it is still very much on our radar. Please reach out to your TAM with any other questions or concerns about this idea.
Best,
Stuart
Hi all,
I understand how important a feature this is. We have this on the roadmap for a future improvement to the
Stories
tab. However, I'm looking to incorporate the lock status into the new Calendar view so you have a more direct way of determining the lock status within WebSked.
As always, please reach out directly to me if you have any question.

Hi, have you got some news about this feature which will be very useful ?
A lock icon will be also very efficient for our workflow. Without it, this is a significant loss of time.
Hi, still a very useful feature. Any update on planification?
Hi, I'm Thomas from Chosunilbo. This is a definitely required feature as well. Until the article gets opened in Composer, user in Websked will have no way to see whether articles is currently opened up by someone else. So to lessen the effort of having to open up an article in Composer, it makes more sense for Websked user to see the article lock status at a glance in the list.
