We notice that for stories imported via the draft API, there is an abnormal behavior:
the number of characters of a story only appears in the list of stories after saving.
Can you add the number of characters for this type of article?

I had to do some research, so thanks for your patience.
The calculation for character count happens in Composer, which is why you're not seeing the character counts when the story first comes in via Draft API.
I have two suggestions, which are not great but will keep the ball moving forward:
Post this idea with the Draft API team to see if it might do the calculation when it ingests a story. It may be tricky since Draft API would have to ignore stories created in Composer so it doesn't duplicate the work.
Perform the calculation in advance of sending the story to Draft API. That may be the most effective way to address this.
