Ideas for Arc XP

Ability to add inline notes via UI (the same as we could in Composer 1.0)

The change to the way notes can be added, and the introduction of the 'Suggesting' mode in V2.3, is causing us immediate workflow issues.

In V1 when an editor edits a reporter's file they will use the inline notes mode to remove copy they do not want to appear in the final version. In V2.3 this only works via keyboard shortcuts and not via a button/icon in the UI. (This renders in orange within Composer).

As the function still exists, can access via the UI please be reinstated?

Hello all! After careful consideration and feedback, we're bringing back Inline Notes (or Notes Mode) to supplement the gaps and differences in functionality that Suggest Mode did not originally address and account for. This will be announced in Monday's release notes email with more detailed information on what to expect!

I wish I could vote for this 100 times - for every person in the newsroom!

Minnesota Star Tribune users are also having difficulty adjusting to this, and find alternative workarounds involve several more clicks.

Cox First Media / Dayton Daily News / Journal-News / Springfield News-Sun - We would definetly be in favor of reinstating the inline notes feature from 1.0 to 2.0. Or editors have indicated that this new way will cause significant workflow issues and efficieny decreases.

AJC and Dayton Daily News have the same issue, and our editorial team is not happy with this change. We fully support reverting to the way this worked in Composer 1.0.
