We produce quite some sponsored content across the site and we are legally required to mark those articles as sponsored content everywhere we surface those across the site!
Based on your documentation the Overline block should reflect this:
If an article is marked marked as Sponsored overline link changes to simple text with Sponsored Content default copy
basic Label can then be used on per article level to ovveride this copy
What actually happens is that:
If you mark an article as sponsored nothing happens, overlin estill reflects the primary site section
[OK] basic Label works on the Overline Article block. If it has a value, the overline is overridden with the copy in the label
What would be a great behaviour for us:
If an article is marked marked as Sponsored overline link changes to simple text with Sponsored Content default copy
basic Label can then be used on per article level to ovveride this copy with a custom copy if needed
This same behaviour is reflected across all of the overlines across the Themes blocks
Option to show overline is added across all of the components that render article cards, so all of those add a sponsored label for paid content

Extra bonus - all of the above article card HTML elements - usually <article> have aditional sponsored-content class added to enable us to further style those article cards based on this selector:
<article class="... sponsored-content ...">
BIG BONUS (nice to have): to have a global setting to configure the link for all of the Sponsored content labels. So that a simple text label could be replaced for an overline link pointing to a /sponsored listing page for instance...
That way we would be able to surface our sponsored content across all of our feeds (or selected ones), not just specialised sponsored feeds placed across the site, thus giving more value and exposure to our clients!
